Importance of Iron
About 70 percent of our body’s iron is found in red blood cells(RBC) of our blood called HEMOGLOBIN. Similarly in muscle cells called MYOGLOBIN. Hemoglobin is responsible for transferring of oxygen -” life line”. Now we can imagine how important is iron for us. Iron deficiency causes ANEMIA.
What is Anemia?
Iron deficiency anemia is a condition where RBC count start decreasing. Basically blood lacks adequate healthy red blood cell. Ultimately body starts facing deficiency of oxygen. Basically deficiency of iron is responsible for anemia. Hemoglobin is the main protein in our red blood cells. It carries oxygen, and delivers it throughout your body. If we have anemia, our hemoglobin level will be low too.
Anemia and women
- In current senerio Iron deficiency Anemia is most common blood related issue which world is facing. And women and children are more likely to have anemia.
- every month,women have their menstrual cycle(periods). In which they loss about 80ml of blood which is the main cause of anemia.
- during pregnancy also due to high demand of blood supply to fetus women are at higher risk.
Types of anemia
There are about more than 300 types of anemia. But mainly they are classified into three types.
- Anemia caused by blood loss
- caused by decreased or faulty red blood cell production
- caused by destruction of red blood cells
Symptoms of anemia
During initial days sign of iron deficiency anemia are very mild. They are not noticeable but when condition gets worse, so do they.
- shortness of breath
- loss of appetite
- cold hands and feet
- pale yellow skin color
- discharge of white fluid during period in women
- one of the most common-weakness and tiredness
- pain including in bones, chest, belly, and joints
Diet rich in IRON
Whenever we face any health issue,we always run to doctor. But my dear you need not to be afraid for anemia.We can easily get of of rid from this only by maintaining iron in our diet. It would not wrong to be say that Diet can do a fast and furious job in any kind of disease.

- if you are a non-vegetarian, than meat is one of the best source of iron.
Dark , leafy greens
If you don’t eat meat, you can still get your iron. If you’re looking for a tasty side dish, spinach, kale, and collards can give you an iron boost.
Having a Vitamin-C drink with your meal will help you to absorb iron in better way.
Breakfast is a great to load upon iron.Wheat and oats do a great job for that. And yes don’t forget to have a slice of strawberry it will work a cherry on top.
eggs are the only one who have all 20 amino acids in them. If you want to take all 20 Amino acids in one go than have a boiled egg.But if you drink coffee or hot tea with it, you may lose some of the benefit. They keep you from absorbing iron as well.
NUTS AND DRY FRUITS
Decorate your breakfast tray with them. nuts and dry fruits are rich iron snacks.
Fruits like banana and apple are very rich source of iron
